MICROCASA is the first international project aimed at sharing the European experiences and building institutional capacities in Southeast Asia to co-create, promote and deliver short competence-oriented educational units leading to micro-credentials with the goal of solving various economic and social problems.

The project officially enters in its last semester, after several meetings in Rome, Madrid and Saarbrücken – organized by the Centre for Information on Mobility and Academic Equivalences (CIMEA) and Università Europea di Roma (UER), Universidad Carlos III and Universität des Saarlandes – and  focused on the design, recognition, and integration of microcredentials into academic processes in Southeast Asian universities.

Furthermore, UER will be part of the International Conference at University Sains Malaysia (USM) next February 2026, as final conference of the MICROCRASA project.

This final conference will serve as a closing event, consolidating three years of work aimed at promoting and implementing micro-credentials in higher and vocational education in higher education institutions in South-East Asia. Indeed the consortium of 11 partners includes a representative group of 6 Southeast Asian university selected as central agenda-setting national universities, as well as universities with regional development missions.

The conference will (i) present the project’s results and best practices, (ii) promote engagement among policy, academic and industry stakeholders, (iii) pursue sustainability through policy alignment and institutional engagement, (iv) foster international and regional dialogue on quality assurance and future skills.
